The base is conceived here as a staging device intended to offer a sensory experience, as well as the contemplation of a landscape. Beyond this work, my approach is to take the jewel elsewhere; to move jewellery from the world of luxury to art by recalling its primary function; a value of protection and remembrance. To give up wearing a jewel is to give it another place in one's universe...”
